- Native to Europe, North Africa and West Asia
- Yews are slow growing and can be very long-lived and reach heights of 131 feet, with trunk diameters of up to 13 feet
- Yews are conifers but bear a ‘berry-like’ fruit instead of cones
- Needles are spirally arranged on branches with a broad, low crown
