Taxodium distichum (tack-SO-dee-um DISS-tick-um)
- From Southwest U.S. found commonly in Florida swamps and the bayous of Louisiana
- Will grow in standing water which would drown most trees
- Related to Redwood trees and NOT the Monterey Cypress
- Deciduous conifer like dawn redwood
- Can grow to 100 feet tall
- Feathery, alternately arranged leaves with a ‘weepy’ effect
