Program:  This lecture covers the fundamental and essential concepts and techniques employed in the aesthetic pruning of trees and shrubs.  Concepts include finding and enhancing a tree’s essence, creating and maintaining a “focal point” tree and the differences between purely functional pruning (e.g., for fruit production) and aesthetic restructuring.  The lecture portion is pre-recorded.  However, Q and A will be live with Chris Ingram.

Speaker:  Chris Ingram is a Certified Aesthetic Pruner and a Certified Arborist with 30+ years of experience in arboriculture and aesthetic pruning (i.e., the pruning of small trees and shrubs in the Japanese style).  He continually teaches aesthetic pruning to groups around the Bay Area, including aesthetic pruning classes at Merritt College in Oakland and classes for those studying for an Arborist Certification.  He owns and operates Mr. Prune Tree Service providing a full range of arboriculture services, with special emphasis on aesthetic and functional pruning of trees and shrubs up to 15 feet tall.  He loves old trees and specializes in their rehabilitation.
